Computer Technology Corporation, dba CACTUS Software, is based in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. 

Where the heck did the name CACTUS come from?

CACTUS is an acronym that stands for

Who uses CACTUS Software?

Our client list consists of over 1,000 client locations, which consist of many of the leading health care providers in the country. Both small community networks and large integrated health systems find inherent flexibility in CACTUS systems.

CACTUS/Medical Staff clients range from small community hospitals to very large teaching hospitals with staffs ranging from 50 to over 20,000 members and allied health professionals. 

CACTUS/Managed Care clients have upwards of 300,000 providers, and include HMO's, PPO's, IPA's, Insurance Companies, Networks, and Physician Groups of all sizes.

1990 DOS CACTUS installed in sixteen hospitals of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation
1991 DOS CACTUS/House introduced, conforming to ACGME standards
1993 DOS CACTUS/Managed Care introduced, conforming to NCQA standards
1994 DOS CACTUS/Multi-Entity introduced, accommodating any combination of hospital, managed care, and credentialing entities
1996 Windows-based Visual CACTUS is released
1997 Computer Technology Corporation begins doing business as CACTUS Software
1998 Visual CACTUS/Multi-Entity takes off using true Client/Server Technology, with installations in organizations such as the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation

1999 CACTUS Advantage is introduced; this method of electronic primary source verification moves clients towards a paperless environment
